THE BEST PARKS & PLAYGROUNDS IN ASPEN

Aspen is one of the most kid-friendly towns in the country. There is a multitude of kid-friendly restaurants, activities, and over 30 parks and playgrounds providing endless playtime activities. Below, we’ve outlined some of the best parks Aspen has to offer, for kids and adults alike:

Wagner Park

Wagner Park is Aspen’s most centrally located and visible park since it borders the downtown core. It’s one of our favorites because it’s directly across the street from the Limelight Hotel.

Used as a rugby pitch at various times throughout the year, Wagner Park is the favorite of locals walking their dogs during their lunch breaks. There’s a great playground located adjacent to the park’s large open space. Thanks to some great city planning, parents can grab a drink on the patio of Jimmy’s Bodega or Bosq while the kiddos enjoy the playground.

Triangle Park

My dog’s favorite park is Triangle Park. To get there, we walk through the streets of the West End that have restricted car traffic in the summer. Cars can’t drive more than a block on these streets making them perfect for people, pups, and bikers. Triangle Park is ideal for kids because it has a great playground, with few cars driving nearby.

Herron Park

On especially hot days, head down to Herron Park. The river running through the park has shallow pools where kids can splash around and beat the heat for a while. The water will be freezing as it’s snow melt coming from Independence Pass, so proceed with some caution.

Molly Gibson Park

If you’re looking for some great views, head up to Molly Gibson Park. Situated at the base of Smuggler Mountain trail, the park is perfect for throwing a football, frisbee, or even bringing up a corn hole or bocce ball set. It overlooks Aspen Mountain, and on a clear day, you can see all the way to Mt. Sopris. Sunsets from Molly Gibson are second to none – don’t miss the chance to lounge in the park and take in the views
