Sam L.
Hey! I’m Sam, 25, born and raised on the south shore of Long Island, NY. I grew up playing sports, going to the beach, and exploring New England with my parents, younger sister, and our two dogs! After graduating from SUNY New Paltz in 2022 with a degree in Accounting and Finance, I moved to Aspen for the winter season. Three years later, I’m still here and don’t think I’ll ever leave!
Before moving out west, I’ve held various childcare roles. Every summer and winter break from college I worked as a special education aide for Eastern Suffolk BOCES, working with children along the autism spectrum, ranging from ages 5-12. This is where I discovered how rewarding working with children can be. After graduating college, I spent a summer living in a cabin with 12-15 year olds at a sleepaway camp in New Hampshire. This experience combined my love for working with children and the outdoors, which inspired me to shift from pursuing a master’s in business to a more childcare-focused career. That fall, I worked as an Instructor for Nature’s Classroom New England, teaching outdoor education to elementary and middle school students.
After 6 months in New Hampshire, I moved to Colorado! My first winter, I worked as Ski School Support Staff in Snowmass, ensuring the safety of children ages 3 and 4 while they attended ski school. The following summer, I was a field guide for Deer Hill Expeditions, and lead multi-day whitewater rafting and backpacking trips in the San Juan Mountains. This role allowed me to get my Wilderness First Responder certification as well as First Aid/CPR skills, boosting my knowledge and confidence especially when caring for little ones.
Babysitting and nannying has been a constant for me throughout my time working seasonally in Colorado. I’ve worked with families whose children were as young as 4 months, and most recently I was a full-time nanny for a little boy (14 months-2 years old). We spent our days at the park, library, and doing arts and crafts! Getting to spend everyday with him was genuinely one of the highlights in my life thus far. Im passionate about being active, silly, safe, and spending time outside with little ones. I love to have fun, and connecting with children of all ages is so incredibly rewarding. There’s so much to learn and explore, and I’m excited to do so with your kiddos. I look forward to meeting you and your family!
