Kira
Hey there! I am from Venice Beach, California, and last May I graduated from the University of Virginia. I plan on applying to graduate programs for psychology, but wanted to break up my education with a couple years of fun, which led to my move to the valley! Now I work as a Ski and Snowboard Pro at Snowmass where I am based out of the Treehouse Kids 6-and-Under Division.
My first professional childcare experience was at a sleep-away camp for kids ages 5-15. It was incredible to contribute to that special time for the kids, and be there as many of them experienced being away from home for the first time, navigated social situations, and blossomed in their independence. This past ski season I earned my Child Specialist 1 Certification, which focuses on the developmental stages and how to best reach children in each stage. Additionally, I have worked as a private provider for the last 7 years, and am a former lifeguard and swim instructor. I have helped kids learn how to swim, read, pump their legs on the swing, snap their fingers, and make paper cranes. I love working with kids and am experienced and comfortable with families of all sizes and ages, from infants to teenagers.
Outside of childcare, my interests include reading, biking, hiking, board games, and live music. I love to pick up new hobbies; recent ones include watercolor, ceramics, knitting, and how to make the best lasagna. I have also been exploring outdoor climbing which has been equal parts challenging and exciting! I find that my curiosity, outgoing nature, and diverse interests enhance my ability to connect.
Every family has different needs, and I pride myself on being able to adapt to however you like to be supported. I am a warm individual who engages kids in creative fun, whether that be outdoors or inside. Imaginative play, homework help, building forts, tossing a ball, however your child likes to play, I can do it! Thank you and I look forward to the possibility of meeting you and your family!
